English seamer James Anderson from Lancashire, who is currently working on to recover from cracked rib. He was injured in January during his South Africa tour will miss out Sri Lanka series.

Off-spinner Moeen Ali isn’t available for the series, keeper Jonny Bairstow has been kept off and pacer Archer has also been left out.
Batsman Keaton Jennings and Surrey’s wicket keeper Ben Foakes were recalled for this series.

Back in November 2018, Foakes debuted in Galle against Sri Lanka, when he scored a spectacular hundred runs. He represented lions for five times at Test level. Jennings, on the other hand played for England in 17 tests, having scored one fifty and two hundreds.

National Selector ED Smith said, “The selection panel has supported continuity after a successful series victory in South Africa. The South Africa tour marked the emergence of a very exciting group of young players, creating a nice balance with an experienced core of senior players. That squad is mostly retained, with some tweaks to the squad relevant to injury, rest, and the challenges of playing in sub-continent conditions.”

The first match will take place between 19-23 March in Galle and the SL vs Eng second test will be played in Colombo, 27-31 Mar.

Here’s the lineup for Eng vs SL test matches:

Joe Root (captain)
Keaton Jennings
Joe Denly
Ben Stokes
Dom Bess
Zak Crawley
Sam Curran
Ollie Pope
Jack Leach
Jos Buttler
Dominic Sibley
Stuart Broad
